THE STORY
You are the owner of Veilwood Sanitorium, largely regarded as one of the most haunted locations in the country. People have been scratched there and pushed. Shadow figures are regularly seen. Voices and footsteps are heard, even though no one is on the premises. Even worse, your daughter, Nancy, went missing there five years ago, and no one has seen her since.
A former tuberculosis hospital, Veilwood is over 150,000 square feet in size with room to treat up to 400 patients. The sanitorium has been empty and abandoned for decades. Given the decrepit state of the place and your own painful history, you have plans to raze it all to the ground and use the site for a shopping center that will make the investment worth up to five times what you paid for it and erase every trace of Veilwood off the earth. It won’t bring Nancy back to you, but in a way, tearing it down will seem a bit like revenge for what the place took from you.
But, before you tear everything down to the ground, your old college roommate, Elijah Nicholas, wants to call in a favor, and you definitely owe him. Nicholas is the owner of GhostRid, a paranormal research company that specializes in cleansing old sites of evil presences. Elijah isn’t wanting to cleanse the place. He simply wants complete access to the facility for the next three months to fully research the building from top to bottom. Given the number of times Elijah covered your rent back in the day because you didn’t have it, you know that you owe him big time. So, you agree to let him live in Veilwood until next year, when the construction crew is planning to conduct the demolition. Elijah has pledged to send you updates, notes, findings, and photographs every week for the next twelve weeks as he seeks to uncover what really took place in Veilwood and get to the bottom of the hauntings that are said to occur there. He has also planned to find out what happened to Nancy.
